How much smaller will my PDF get?

Will the text still be selectable after compressing?
No. Compression works by re-rendering each page as an image, which is the only method available without a server. The text becomes part of the picture, so it is no longer selectable or searchable.
Which setting should I choose?
'Balanced' suits most documents. Use 'Best quality' for anything being printed, and 'Smallest file' for email attachments where legibility on screen is all that matters.
