Resume Format for Freshers in India
You have no work experience yet. That is normal, and it is not what costs people the interview — a resume that looks empty is. Here is how to fill one honestly.
Put education first, not experience
A recruiter reading a fresher's resume is looking for your qualification, your marks and your graduation year. Those should be the first thing under your contact details, not buried below an empty Experience heading.
List your degree, college, board or university, and your percentage or CGPA exactly as your marksheet states it. Do not convert a CGPA to a percentage unless your university publishes the formula — a number a recruiter cannot verify reads worse than one they can.

Projects are your experience
A final-year project, a college hackathon, a website you built for a local shop — these are work. Describe them the way you would describe a job: what the problem was, what you built, what it achieved.
The mistake almost every fresher makes is listing the technology and stopping. "React, Node.js, MongoDB" tells a recruiter nothing. "Built a college attendance tracker used by 400 students, cutting manual roll-call to under a minute" tells them you can finish something people use.
Internships count, even short ones
A six-week internship belongs on your resume. Give it its own section rather than filing it under Experience, so nobody reads it as a full-time role you left quickly.
Write what you actually did. "Assisted the team" is filler; "Wrote the test suite for the payments module, catching three bugs before release" is not.
What Indian employers expect that Western templates omit
Most Indian resume formats carry a few things foreign templates leave out: date of birth, languages known, sometimes father's name, and a signed declaration at the end.
For campus placements and many domestic roles these are expected, and a resume without them can look incomplete. If you are applying to companies abroad, leave them off — there they read as oversharing, and in some countries an employer is not permitted to consider them.

Keep it to one page
Without work experience, one page is enough, and a second page of padding is obvious. If you are struggling to fill a page, add detail to your projects rather than inventing sections.
Leave off: objective statements that say nothing ("seeking a challenging role"), hobbies that are not relevant, and references — nobody asks for them at this stage.

What should a fresher write in the objective?
Write what you want to do and what you bring, in two lines. "Computer science graduate looking for a backend engineering role, with project experience in Java and Spring Boot" says something. "Seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation" does not, and recruiters skip it.
Should a fresher's resume be one page or two?
One. With no work history there is not enough to fill two pages honestly, and a padded second page is easy to spot.
Do I need to mention my percentage or CGPA?
Yes. Many Indian employers filter on marks, especially for campus hiring, and leaving them out reads as hiding a low score. Write the figure exactly as your marksheet states it.
Is a photo necessary on a fresher's resume?
For campus placements and many Indian companies it is conventional. For applications outside India, leave it off — it is not expected and in some countries employers are advised not to consider it.
